JUVENILES CHARGED IN CHURCH BURGLARY

TWO JUVENILES HAVE BEEN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE AT A KINGSPORT CHURCH.u00a0 IT HAPPENED JULY 26 AT CEDAR GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST AND AN INVESTIGATION LED TO A GROUP OF JUVENILES.u00a0 TWO 14-YEAR-OLDS HAVE BEEN CHARGED AND CHARGES ARE PENDING AGAINST A THIRD JUVENILE.u00a0 THE TWO THAT HAVE BEEN CHARGED WERE TAKEN TO THE JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER IN JOHNSON CITY.u00a0 DAMAGE TO THE CHURCH IS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT $11-THOUSAND DOLLARS.

STREET RESURFACING WORK WILL BEGIN LATER IN THE YEAR ON A NUMBER OF STREETS AROUND WAL-MART ON FORT HENRY DRIVE IN KINGSPORT.u00a0 3.5-MILES OF STREETS WILL GET A NEW LOOK, INCLUDING ATOKA LANE AND CLIFFSIDE ROAD.u00a0 LAST MONTH, THE CITY APPROVED AN $829-THOUSAND DOLLAR CONTRACT WITH PAVEWELL AND THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF OCTOBER.u00a0 CITY OFFICIALS SAY STREET RESURFACING IS A HIGH PRIORITY AND THE GOAL IS TO PAVE CITY-OWNED STREETS EVERY 20 TO 25 YEARS.u00a0 THE 2023 BUDGET HAS $2.7-MILLION DOLLARS ALLOCATED FOR STREET RESURFACING.
